Mini Process 2 - Worksheets

8/13/00 - Go Back

These worksheets are useful for getting started with Mini Process 2. You or the trainer can show yourself or everyone how MP2 could be used on something as small as a tricky one person 2 hour task, and as large as a ten person 6 month project. The high level concepts behind small and large work are exactly the same.

Print the worksheets and keep them around for those next few projects and tasks. Try them out. Make the use of process on everything a new habit. As Kent Beck said:

"I'm not a great programmer; I'm just a good programmer with great habits."

The advantage of using a lightweight process on every non-trivial job you do is success becomes more repeatable, because you have a repeatable approach. This is unimportant for doing the same type of work over and over, but when new domains are encountered, or a large twist appears, or people need to communicate, an organized process to problem solving becomes downrignt delightful. :-)

Concept & Analysis Worksheet - This is self explainatory. Note the Risk Resolutions section. We do this in our heads often, but better results tend to happen if we write it down.

Class Model Worksheet - This is not Mini Process specific, but is crucial, and follows the above worksheet. The legend is provided for those new to UML. The items shown in the legend section are all one needs for most simple models.

We find that when developers grasp the Concept, Analysis and Modeling steps, the rest of Mini Process 2 is nearly instantly understood.. The process becomes one intuitive whole....
