Vilnius is a city of contrasts. Much of its architecture is old, majestic, and historic, such as the buidlings in the background below. But ever since Lithuania threw off the 50 year occupation of the Soviets in 1990, with a small battle at the city's TV tower where 13 Lithuanians lost their lives, the country has been returning as fast as possible to what it was before: a center in Europe for the arts, education, and perhaps above all, the spirit of independence. Here we see some very recent college grads (I think) living it up with a celebratory ride around town, in a topless tour bus with photos of parts of the old town painted on its sides.
