Project Status

Last Updated - 9/15/00

Release - Working on Release 1, Bare Minimum. Completion date unplanned.

Iteration - Working on Iteration 1, Full Command Line Version. Next iteration is Minimal GUI which will have no tree. Completion dates unplanned.

Quality - Unknown, creation of automated Full Test is underway. No usability testing is possible yet since product is too young. However preliminary use by Jack from Kawa shows the -nocatch option allows perfect use of Jester for debugging.

We've switched from micro tasks to bigger ones. Starting at the 9/31/00 JSL meeting, all teams are now doing the entire GUI partition. Teams with published results so far area;

Joe Nash, Jim Steiner, Tim McCaulen - See results.

Valarie Zuver, Tom and Sharon Dixon - See results 9/7/00.

TeamA, including Jacj, Barry, Mike and Eugenia - Did this in the meeting on 9/14/00.

That makes these tasks a little obsolete. This will be handled later.

Visual Design Examine other test tool GUIs, sketch prototypes, select best, do realistic model in Visio or such. Include tree and all known features. A - Hard to do well, 4 hours. Will take extra time if no familiar with realistic modeler. Test on users.   In progress, first rough done.

Design GUI Partition Class model and rationale, in the same style as other models. Do architecture first. A - Hard, 6 hours. Ideally use the Visio files as a starting point for best match. Write GUI User Doc for detailed design

Tester listTree(), createTree() Add these methods to Tester. C - Easy, one hour if familiar with Java and recursion.

(Due to bugs in DreamWeaver 3.0 I'm unable to resize the columns properly. If anyone has suggestions please let me know. We can learn a lesson from this - test early and often. Jester needs to have a lower defect rate than DreamWeaver. JH)
